Whatever ones views are, they are very personnal and cannot be changed. And there should be no interference right? Well, you are wrong. The British government has actively made its position clear, through demarches, that it does not accept the death penalty of the Bali Bombers even though it is the law of a foreign land. I say “Butt out!” and leave foreign countries alone to do what they want to do.
Well, if you have been following the trials, you will have noticed that the lawyers representing the convicted bombers have tried every trick in the book to delay the executions. I’ve given up believing any new information filtered from Indonesia that the executions are imminent which so far have never wrung true. It also sickens me that the bombers prefer to be beheaded rather than shot. What on Earth makes them think like that? And they still show no remorse for what they did! They have no understanding that non Muslims are human too. They suffer no tolerance to those unlike their own. How did their brain washed minds get so fucked up?
Seems to me that Indonesia’s legal system and power structure is somewhat fractured. I have read of Islamic elements sympathetic to the likes of the Bali Bombers. That is why I refuse all invites made by the Indonesian Embassy in London to attend ceremonies, conferences etc. I am humbled by the invites but their views are not wholly supported by all Indonesian officials. They have to get their house in order.
